New Zealand Green Building Council
The project for the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) stands as a testament to the power of holistic transformation. From revamping their outdated website to crafting seamless user interfaces, optimizing user experiences, and implementing robust eCommerce functionalities, the journey undertaken encapsulates a myriad of design disciplines.
My goal for the NZGBC was to create a comprehensive UI experience. The previous site provided a broken experience due to its legacy system. I aimed to ensure users felt connected with the NZGBC and its values by incorporating photography of locals, New Zealand homes, and locations. Additionally, I ensured the new brand colours and font were reflective of New Zealand and compatible with Te Reo characters.
Digital Guideline Creation
To maintain design consistency across platforms and channels, we developed comprehensive digital guidelines for the NZGBC. These guidelines served as a blueprint for the visual identity, ensuring a cohesive brand presence across the digital landscape.
User Interface and User Experience
A user-centric approach at the forefront, when I crafted the user experience and intuitive user interfaces. Buyer personas were developed to establish the various users of the NZGBC website, then those personas were mapped against a new site map to see how they would move through the new site. After the user experience work was presented back to client in a document that they could use to understand the journey that was taken, every button, menu, module and interaction was thoughtfully designed to enhance user satisfaction. Through user testing from internal stakeholders, we fine-tuned the interfaces to ensure a seamless and enjoyable digital journey.
User Experience Documentation
To guide future iterations and ensure continuous improvement, I documented our user experience processes. This documentation serves as a valuable resource for the client, providing insights into user personas behaviours, pain points, and potential areas for enhancement.
Website Redesign
The first challenge for the new NZGBC website was breathing new life into a stagnant website and to bring an element of style consistency across the site. I conducted a thorough analysis of the existing design, identifying pain points and areas of improvement. The redesigned website not only embraced a modern aesthetic but also prioritised user engagement and ease of navigation.
Dashboard creation
A dual-purpose dashboard was created for that NZGBC, that serves as a dynamic hub catering to the diverse needs of both company employees and individual users. For internal teams, it offers streamlined tools to manage user profiles, oversee event logistics, and analyse engagement metrics. Simultaneously, external users experience a seamless interface for accessing professional content, managing event tickets, and enhancing their own professional profiles. This unified solution ensures a cohesive and efficient experience, bridging the operational demands of the company with the empowerment of its user base.
eCommerce Functionality
Our focus on user experience extended to the eCommerce realm, where we implemented robust functionalities to streamline the online shopping experience for events, workshops, trainings and accessing on-demand videos. From intuitive product displays to secure checkout processes, our design aimed to convert visitors into satisfied customers.
Client Workshops
Client workshops were set up and were designed to demystify the intricacies of HubSpot CMS, website page structures, content integration, and best practices. Guiding clients step by step, we empower them to seamlessly add and manage content on their new website. Through interactive sessions, we shared insights on optimal page layouts, imparted best practices for engaging content creation, and provided practical tips for maximising the impact of their online presence. The workshops fostered client confidence and proficiency in HubSpot, ensuring they wield their website as a powerful tool for effective communication and engagement.
Social Media
After months of hard work and collaboration, a post for social media was created to unveil the revamped website, for the NZGBC. The post was created to shoutout to our amazing team and dedicated team at the NZGBC for making this journey possible.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the multifaceted approach to the project for the NZGBC, showcases the transformative power of thoughtful and comprehensive design. From the macro level of website redesign to user interface elements, every decision was driven by a commitment to enhancing the user experience and achieving tangible business results.
